At the occasion of Hors Pistes, Courtisane presents a focus on the work of Belgian artist filmmaker Isabelle Tollenaere (°1984) who in spite of her youth has already won twice the national competition at the Courtisane Festival (with Stil Leven in 2008 and Trickland in 2010). The films of Isabelle Tollenaere are inherently "hors pistes"; they move playfully between the codes and conventions of fiction and documentary, film and contemporary art. Tollenaere has just completed VIVA PARADIS which was shot in Tunisia shortly after the revolution, at the moment when journalists and media attention had moved to neighbouring countries such as Egypt and Lybia. Through of a series of "moving" tableaux, filmed mostly in a quasi-abandoned luxury hotel, Tollenaere explores the tension between revolution and tourism, or in other words, between the desire of change and the inevitable conservatism of economical interest.
Isabelle Tollenaere and Maria Palacios Cruz (Courtisane) will be present to introduce the screening.
