A trade unionist shows a leftist (played by Anne-Marie Miéville) a film that he made about the work inside his factory. She is dissatisfied with the result and urges him to think about each of his choices. “Through her, Godard develops a critical dispositif in which the issue of representation of the working class is closely intertwined with that of production and circulation of information in society. Neither a neutral statement nor a gratuitous denunciation of the media, Comment ça va? is a dynamic film that bears witness to a juncture ‘between the active and the passive’ and which clearly chooses a side: that of reflection and montage as the politics of the gaze”.
