Domestic _graphies

“Against the history of milestones, small testimonies of ordinary life are bearers of memory by having only dealt with their very present.” (Andrea Soto Calderon)

Is there something that precedes our gestures? Above all, human relationships with the inhabited environment have been mediated by touch and time. Weeding, squeezing, kneading, building, returning, caring. As a reflection of a memory transmitted by hands, this programme revolves around questions about space, the outside and the inside, freedom, contradictions, threats, possibilities, and passing on our life experiences. With the hunch of material signs that remain in the body across time so that we can be part of the world. It inquires about a common history written by others’ echoes. It suggests an image: domesticity seems like a hand-woven stone.

With three aesthetic proposals of similar concerns, the first part is a retrospective look at how experimental filmmaking in different periods approached ethnography from both critical and tender perspectives. The second part consists of contemporary film poetics around the traces of the past in bodies and family spaces. Films as continued movements where inherited gestures turn into collective rituals.
